NPT Nylon Cable Glands
NPT nylon cable glands for enclosure cable entries, with sizes from 1/4 to 2 in. and model-specific cable ranges.
- Material: PA66 nylon body with an NBR rubber sealing insert in every gland.
- Model series: NPT 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4, 1 1/2 and 2.
- Thread type: NPT tapered male thread. Inch sizes identify the nominal thread size, not the cable diameter.
- Size range / Cable range: 1/4–2 in. nominal thread sizes; cable clamping ranges from 3–6.5 mm to 37–44 mm, depending on the model. NPT 1/2 has two options.
- Supplied components: Gland body, cap nut, NBR sealing insert and locknut. Flat gasket (washer) is not included as standard; specify it when ordering.
- Protection: IP55 without a flat gasket; IP68 with the specified flat gasket, sealing insert and correct installation.
Selecting an NPT Nylon Cable Gland
Select the gland by both the enclosure thread and the actual cable outside diameter. Match the NPT nominal size to the enclosure entry, then choose a cable range that covers the cable diameter and its manufacturing tolerance.
For control panels and junction boxes, check available thread engagement, panel thickness and wrench clearance before ordering. A larger nominal thread does not necessarily mean a larger cable range: the NPT 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 options have different entry dimensions but overlapping cable ranges.
NPT Cable Gland Dimensions and Cable Ranges

Drawing key: A — locknut; B — optional flat gasket (washer); C — gland body; D — sealing insert; E — cap nut. The washer shown is not included as standard.
All dimensions and cable ranges below are in mm. NPT sizes are nominal inch designations. C1 is the thread outside diameter and C2 is the thread length. Use the model-specific drawing for enclosure machining; the thread OD is not a clearance-hole specification.

NPT 1/2 options differ in cable range and thread length: 6–12 mm / 13 mm, or 8–14 mm / 15 mm. Include both values in your order. For NPT 2 enclosure dimensions, request the current drawing with your quotation.

List each NPT size, cable outside diameter or diameter range, and quantity. For NPT 1/2, specify the 6–12 mm or 8–14 mm option. Include the enclosure entry type, panel thickness, required protection rating and any washer requirement.
Attach the enclosure drawing or project specification, and identify the drawings, CE documentation or RoHS reports needed for purchasing approval. For multiple models, provide one line per size and quantity.
NPT Cable Gland FAQs
Installation and Protection Rating
Protection rating: IP55 without a flat gasket; IP68 with the specified flat gasket (washer) and correct installation. Order the washer separately when this configuration is required. The cable must fall within the selected insert’s clamping range, and the enclosure interface must be sealed for the installation.
The sealing insert acts around the cable. The enclosure connection requires its own sealing arrangement; a tapered thread alone does not establish the installed IP rating. For a threaded entry, check thread compatibility and engagement. For an unthreaded entry, check the opening and panel thickness against the drawing and secure the gland with the supplied locknut.
Use the wrench size listed for the selected model and follow its installation instructions. Do not use extra tightening to compensate for an incorrect thread or cable size. Include outdoor exposure, washdown or immersion requirements in the project specification so the required configuration and supporting test evidence can be assessed.
Drawings and Compliance Documents
Model drawings, CE documentation and RoHS reports are available for this NPT series. State the requested model and cable-range option so the supplied documents can be matched to your order.
For technical approval, check the document reference, covered models and any stated configuration or installation conditions. If you require private labeling, a different sealing insert or other component changes, have the document coverage reviewed before confirming the order.
